Government & Utility Rebates

National Programs

DSIRE a comprehensive source of information on state, local, utility, and federal incentives and policies that promote renewable energy and energy efficiency. Established in 1995, DSIRE is an ongoing project of the NC Solar Center and the Interstate Renewable Energy Council funded by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Personal Tax Credit

Beginning January 1, 2006, a Federal Tax Credit is available that provides a 30% tax credit, up to a maximum of $2,000 per system for each solar technology. Eligible technologies include PV, solar domestic heating (excluding pool heating). More information can be found here.

Hardi Heating, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Dist. Int'l released a document on the Summary of Energy and Efficiency Credits in H.R. 1. Based on the American recovery and reinvestment act of 2009, signed into law on February 17, 2009.

National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers mention that the Feb. 17 signing of the economic stimulus package includes $1,500.00 tax credit for equipment and installation costs that would benefit Oil Heat Dealers. The posting can be viewed here.

New Hampshire Programs

The state of New Hampshire is offering Rebates for the purchase of high-efficient home heating systems. Rebates became active after April 15, 2010. Full details can be found here. You can download the rebate form here.

The State Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program (SEEARP) was created under the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The purpose of the program is to offer residential consumers rebates to purchase more energy efficient appliances. Appliance Rebate information can be found here.

Massachusetts Programs

NStar Utilities of Massachusetts is currently offering rebates of Boilers, Furnaces and Hot Water tanks to Massachusetts residents. For complete details and to download the rebate forms, go to the NStar web site here.

Energy Star Homes (new construction) An Energy Star qualified home is independently verified to be at least 15% more efficient than state energy code. A variety of incentives and technical support is available to help you. Call 1-888-887-8841 or visit www.energystarhomes.com to learn more.

Central Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps The Cool Smart program offers a mail-in rebate of $300-$700 for qualifying Energy Star central air conditioning systems and heat pumps. Participating Cool Smart QIV contractors perform important energy-saving AC system tests for new and existing systems that may be omitted by other contractors. Energy Wise, single and multi-family residence owners may be eligible for a free energy analysis and incentives for insulation, air sealing, and domestic hot water efficiency measures. Incentives vary with the type of heating fuel and number of dwelling units. Call 1-888-633-7947 for information.

Appliances RI Homeowners can receive up to $500 for installing natural gas high-efficiency heating equipment and up to $300 when you install high-efficiency water heating equipment. For more information, go to State of Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources web site.

National Grid's GasNetworks (RI) is currently offering rebates of Boilers, Furnaces and Hot Water tanks to Rhode Island gas residents. For complete details and to download the rebate forms, go to National Grid's web site here. Please note that the forms say 2009, but are still being honored until December, 2010. Pascoag residents who are serviced by Pascoag Utility can apply for their rebates here.

Appliance Management and Weatherization (income qualifying) This program helps income eligible customers lower electric, gas and oil heating bills. An energy manager from your local Community Action agency presents an appliance analysis indicating how much each appliance costs to operate and how much you might save and provides free installations of measures. Call 1-401-574-9100 to find out if you are eligible and to locate your Community Action agency.
