Homeowners looking to increase the efficiency of their home heating system or hot water equipment should act now before local and federal rebate programs disappear! This is one of those rare opportunities where the homeowner scores big. For as long as there is government funding available in the various programs, a homeowner can easily recoup a good part of the expense of replacing an existing furnace or hot water system in their residence.

Say someone who owns a single-family home with their nineteen year old boiler, although a little noisy at times, but running okay, decides to replace it with an 90% high-efficiency model. They opt to purchase a high-end Buderus, Slant-Fin or Triangle Tube brand heating system so they can not only reduce their monthly energy costs, but operate a cleaner heating system that is more environmentally-friendly while also increasing the resale value of their home.

If this homeowner gets quoted $5,900 for labor and parts to install a brand new high-efficiency heating system, right-now they could qualify for a $1,000 rebate from Gas Networks. Also, under a current federal rebate program, the homeowner would qualify for a 30% rebate when they submit their annual 2010 income taxes. Not-only would the homeowner reduce their monthly energy bill by running a more energy-efficient boiler, but they will recoup $2,500.00 back! Not to mention, some state-run rebate programs such as the “cash for appliances” programs that are available in many states.

Due to the slow economy, many local governments now have available 0% interest loans for up to $15,000.00 to homeowners to purchase energy-efficient products. Say a homeowner takes advantage of a 5 year re-payment loan to replace their old 70% efficient boiler with a new 92% high-efficiency Buderus boiler, for a savings of approximately 22%. Twenty-two percent savings off your monthly heating bill of say $300.00 is $66.00/month cash back in your pocket or approximately $792.00/year. Over a 5-year, 0% interest loan, many homeowners can recoup the full amount of their new heating system (minus any cash rebates).

But, homeowners need to act now! Once the funds are depleted, the rebate program will be terminated. Some states have already depleted their state-funded rebate programs. Call an authorized Buderus, Slant-Fin or Triangle Tube installer today for complete details. If you can’t find an installer, call your local distributor, Smithfield Plumbing & Heating Supply at (401) 949-0110 for a name of a professional installer near you. A complete list of available rebates is in the Rebates and Promotions area of this web site.

Time is ticking… Call today while it’s fresh on your mind and funds are still available!

GREENVILLE, RI - Due to the recent Rhode Island flooding, Smithfield Plumbing & Heating Supply has obtained an excess inventory of sump pumps and utility “puddle” pumps which are available for immediate pick-up. Inventory is arriving daily and is selling fast.

A Sump pump will discharge up to 40 gallons of liquid per minute and requires that it be submerged in a hole so that the liquid covers the top of the pump (10-1/16”), the liquid keeps the pump lubricated and running cool. Not having the pump submerged could cause the pump to over heat and burn out. Smithfield Plumbing has the Zoeller M-53 Sump Pump in stock. Please refer to the M-53 spec. sheet for more information, or visit the Zoeller web site for complete details.

A utility pump (also referred to as a “puddle” pump or “sucker” pump) can discharge liquid from a spill less than an inch high because it doesn’t require that it be fully submerged.

Some sump pumps can also be used as a utility pump because they have a removable bottom that allows them to pick-up a very shallow level of liquid. One popular sump pump that Smithfield Plumbing carries is the Liberty 237. Please refer to the Liberty 237 spec. sheet for more information, or visit the Liberty Pump web site for complete details.

Smithfield Plumbing also has in stock 24’ sump pump discharge hose kits that will fit most brand sump pumps with a 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" discharge connector.

Please call (401) 949-0110 or (401) 949-1053 for stock availability before heading to any branch.
